Maurice hosted Stillico on the french National Music Day in
his show on the radio Maurice Radio Libre between
10 pm and midnight.
The band played unplugged 9 songs in real-time
and introduced notably, especially for the show,
their brand new song "Give all your love".
You can listen to the show
again by logging onto the website mauriceradiolibre.com
(Podcast section) until Tuesday June 27th.
Following, we also offer you the story of Chris
about this particular experience :
The
"Fete de la Musique" is the national
music day in France, meaning there's live music
not only in bars and venues, but everywhere:
in the street, in trains etc...
We were invited to come and play unplugged in
the legendary radiohost Maurice's show, we've
been told to be there 22:30. We had brought
three folk guitars, Stephane, Emmanuel and I.
Philippe the drummer wasn't there because there
was no room for drums in the web-radio's studio.
At 22:00 it rained
and we tried a few songs out down on
the street, just to warm up a bit. At
the same time the radio program began.
Many people stopped by and got disappointed
when left for the radio building after
only 20 min of street-concert. At 22:30
we entered the studio where Maurice
was in the middle of one of his monologues,
telling the listeners that Stillico
arrives and now have to sit here and
there... Man it was hot in there ! The
technician made an amazing soundcheck
in only two minutes. After 10 minutes
with us, the artist "Bienvenue
Chez Nico" also played, and we
were asked to play again : we ended
up playing much more than two songs. At
one point I asked whether Maurice would
like a love song, he asked the listeners
to call in, which they did and the final
vote was "NO". We managed
to play the love song later in the show
though...

Because
we ended up playing more songs than planned,
we even played songs like ANIMAL or SLEEP IN
MY SOFA which we've never ever played unplugged.
They sounded very strange...especially because
we had no drummer wiht us! You need to imagine
that Maurice always stands up in front of the
microphone, with drumsticks in his hands, he
sometimes hits a drum or a chair with them.
( if you've heard the radio show, you now understand
the percussions on some parts) Yes it's was
an experience, but a great one, with great people.
